Jazz Aftermath

As usual at events like the Jazz concert there is some free wine and beer after the performance, which makes for a good start into the night. Outside the museum we met Lana, an artist and painter in Osijek who also lived in Paris and Rijeka. I remember that my first words to her were “they call it capitalism”, referring to complaints about precarious conditions when trying to make money from art. This in turn makes a good start for a conversation, at least in my book. Lana showed us the studio she is sharing with two others and we stayed there for a while. Angelika joined us later and the girls made some cowgirl performance.

At some point Angelika left to meet with someone. Lana, Monika and me also decided to go somewhere else and have another beer, after the backup beer that Lana had brought from the buffet was empty. After trying two bars without success due to closing doors we came into Big Ben where Monika immediately noticed the absence of women. But I had to disagree after turning around and seeing Angelika and Maja behind us. After this there are no more photos except Monika’s study of the broken toilet door (read the photo’s description to learn more about the toilet door and its fundamental symbolic power to the self perception of the young men in south of Burgenland) and the redneck symbols at the bar. First it was pitch dark and second I am glad to have brought my camera home safely, so hard imaginable to having taken more photos.
